XHOSA BARBADOS brought life to the grounds of Sugarland Gardens, St Peter, on Thursday, during their We Don’t Pose; We Party cooler fete.

Their second and last fete for the 2015 Crop Over season, Xhosa Barbados’ aim was, like their mantra We Don’t Pose; We Party, to simply have patrons come out and have a good time.

“A lot of the parties now we dress up and pose in front of people and the banners,” said De Carla Applewhaite communications officer for Xhosa Barbados.

“So we just want people to come hang, chill out, bring your coolers and we will provide the entertainment.” xhosa-don-trent

And party was just what patrons attending the event did, as they enjoyed the entertainment put on by DJs Jake & Suprstirlz, Andwele, PuffyScott le Rock & Mali FreshSheldon Papp & Level Vibes, along with live performances by Nikita, Don Trent (right)Hypasounds and Stiffy.

Being the new band on the Kadooment block, Applewhaite’s outlook on the band’s future was a fresh and bright one. A future which aimed to revolutionise the concept of the Jump Up.

“Like our parties we want people to come and be normal, we’re bringing back the ‘jeans fete’ so to speak,” she said.

“What we’re moving towards as it pertains to the masquerade, we want to get people involved in the packaging, creation, the costumes, and we just want to give that all round experience that people have drifted away from,” she ended. (SM)
