EVEN AT 80 years old, age is still just a number for the legendary Mighty Sparrow, as his voice is still as sweet as salt fish.
Kaiso lovers got a triple treat of vintage hits from the calypso king of the world; the sweet soca man, Baron, and the loveable lunatic of soca, Crazy, at the Banks Caribbean Kaiso Monarchs In Concert at the Wildey Gymnasium on Saturday night.
These three veteran Trinidadian bards were complemented by Barbadians Mighty Gabby, Red Plastic Bag, Edwin Yearwood, Mighty Grynner and John King as they generated varying levels of applause from the estimated 3 000-strong crowd, many of whom danced the night away.
Sparrow, the closing act, rolled back the years in a nostalgic 45-minute set in which he took the calypso aficionados down memory lane with some of the signature songs from his rich repertoire which spans six decades.
