LOCAL ATHLETES will have one last chance to qualify for the IAAF World Championships at the upcoming North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Eighteen athletes have been selected for the August 7-9 event, the largest team selected for a senior track and field championship.

According to the Athletics Association of Barbados’ website, “an athlete who wins their event at the 2015 NACAC Championships is eligibility [sic] to compete and is deemed to have reached the standard set by the IAAF”.

NationSport yesterday caught up with AAB vice president Noel Lynch who said that while 18 athletes had been selected for Costa Rica, two of them have declined the invitation to compete.
