PATRICK HUSBANDS is back riding high.
Woodbine race track’s defending champion jockey returned to capture Saturday afternoon’s feature race, the CAN$125 000 Victoriana Stakes over one mile and one sixteenth.
Sitting astride the 9/1 chance Bear’s Pride, Husbands found himself buried in traffic before getting up on the winning line. The race fractions were swift early in the race as the quarter mile was carved out in 21:83 while the half mile came up in 44:02.
Only after the mile was completed in 1:33.53 did the pair find racing room where they reeled in the 5/2 favourite Silent Treat in a race for fillies and mares. (LY)
