GOVERNOR OF THE Central Bank of Barbados Dr DeLisle Worrell is now a member of the prestigious Bretton Woods Committee.

The Bretton Woods Committee, founded in 1983, is a nonpartisan network of prominent global citizens which works to demonstrate the value of international economic cooperation and to foster strong, effective international financial institutions (IFIs) as forces for global well-being. Membership of this committee is by invitation only.

“I am honoured that my academic and professional work has been recognised as significant enough for me to be invited to join this prestigious group,” commented Governor Worrell. His selection is based on his contribution to championing economic growth and advancing global finance. “This membership will grant Barbados access to some of the great minds in the world of business and finance.”

The Committee brings together members and friends to explore current issues in global finance and development and trade; to help direct the attention of IFIs toward important initiatives and reforms; and to remind elected leaders that global economic prosperity and lasting national security are closely tied to strong multilateral leadership and cooperation.

Governor Worrell will participate in the Committee’s programmes and engage with a close community of fellow members and top government and IFI officials in exploring current issues in finance, development and trade. (PR)
