Gun alarm

CONCERNS OVER rampant illegal guns and a recent wave of shootings that left one man dead spanned the political divide yesterday in the House of Assembly with a consensus call for tougher action.

Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite linked the guns to the flow of narcotics into Barbados, noting that the firearms were sometimes the substitute payment for drugs and most likely included in the shipment.

“If there is one message I would hope that all of us will send today is that we are very concerned about the display of gun-related crime in this country,” said Brathwaite, “and we have to put our heads together to see how we can address this situation.”
