One hurt in crash

ONE person was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, while another escaped serious injury following a collision between a lorry and a van at Hinds Hill, Cave Hill, St Michael, yesterday.

According to leading fire officer Elvis Haynes of the Barbados Fire Service, van driver Noreene Cox-Cumberbatch was taken to hospital. The lorry driver was Tony Greaves.

One water tender and one rescue tender were deployed to the scene after the Barbados Fire Service received the call at 3:40 p.m.

Alder White, an onlooker, reported that this was the second vehicular incident in that area yesterday. He said that earlier in the day another large lorry skidded down the hill towards the traffic lights before coming to a halt.
