I WAS ENLIGHTENED to read Ms Maryam Mahmood’s essay on the hijab or all covering garment worn by some Muslim women in Monday’s DAILY NATION.
It is to be noted that some western countries including France have banned the wearing of this garment in public places as it is considered to be not in keeping with French culture.
Additionally security issues come into play as wearing the garment has been known to conceal very dangerous weapons including bombs as well as concealing one’s identity etc.
I would be most interested to hear Ms Mahmood’s opinions on the Quran’s directives that adulterers (men and women, or only women?) should be stoned to death. While explaining the mandates of Allah as contained in the holy Quran perhaps Ms Mahmood could also enlighten me on her views on the injunction to kill all infidels or non-believers in Islam along with any believers who are minded to renounce Islam.
