GOVERNMENT IS looking at various avenues to determine the best location for next year’s schools athletic championships, including switching them to the University of the West Indies’ (UWI) Usain Bolt Stadium.

Minister of Sports Stephen Lashley said this was one consideration as the National Stadium, where NAPSAC and BSSAC are usually held, may not be suitable for use following closure of all stands at the Waterford, St Michael facility after they were deemed unfit for use.

“We do recognise in the interim we have to have a way of hosting the NAPSAC and BSSAC. We may very well have to bring in some temporary seating [at the National Stadium] . . .,” he said.
