Boyce: Health risks getting worse

Barbadians are indulging to the point where there is a worsening of risks linked to certain illnesses.

Minister of Health John Boyce said he was particularly concerned after the results of the Health Of The Nation Survey were made public yesterday.

“The results presented today indicate a worsening situation with respect to risk factors associated with NCDs … I remain particularly concerned about the level of obesity, physical inactivity, high alcohol intake and low consumption of fruit and vegetables.

“These risk factors, particularly when working together, contribute to the burden of stroke, heart attack and cancers which are the leading causes of sickness and premature death,” he said.
