NEWLY crowned Caribbean Chess Carnival champions Orlando Husbands and Leigh Sandiford spearheaded Barbados’ commendable effort on the first two days of the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Youth Chess Festival in Trinidad.
Husbands, the Under-20 Carnival champion, started the Under-18 division of the CAC Festival with successive victories in the first two rounds, defeating teammate Jakheel Harewood and Gabriel Roussel of Puerto Rico in a marathon match that stretched four hours yesterday at the Cascadia Hotel just outside Port-of-Spain.
