THE ANSWERS for the recent hike in gunplay lies with those at “the top”. And many city residents believe that they [those at the top] are to blame for the endless scenes involving illegal weapons.
This week a WEEKEND Nation team took to the streets of Chapman Lane and The Orleans, The City, where many occupants liming in the area – mostly men – said that they were not responsible for “guns landing ashore”.
Rudy said too many youngsters became criminals for life and after going to prison “the system” had no further use for them.
“Wha dem expect yuh to do? Take up a gun! Them talking about this discrimination thing but if after seven years after doing a crime a man still getting discriminated [against].” His sentiments were echoed through exits of weed smoke from lips of neighbours in the bullet-riddled hang-out spot.
