Being water smart

NOT ONLY is the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) on its way to accurately measuring every drop of water being used, but it is also significantly improving its relationship with customers.

So said Minister of Water Resource Management Dr David Estwick yesterday at the launching ceremony for the BWA Smart Meter Business Transformation Project at Courtyard By Marriott, Hastings, Christ Church.

Estwick told the gathering, which included Canadian High Commissioner Richard Hanley, as well as project partners Canadian Commercial Corporation, Export Development Canada and Sogeman Technology International, that the project would help the BWA to overcome a number of challenges.

He said the dysfunctional analog meters would be replaced with the smart ones. Already 25 000 of the 100 000 residential and 4 000 commercial meters had been installed.
