THANKS TO CARLTON there will be new volleyball queens of the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior knockouts.

That’s because last year’s champs Brydens Rockets were knocked out by Carlton when the quarterfinals were held Monday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Led by former national athlete Ayesha Maycock, Carlton registered the upset via a 25-19, 27-25, 15-25, 20-25, 15-7 five-set showdown.

Displaying tremendous elevation and execution, Maycock fuelled her team and celebrated every point with gusto as the unfancied Carlton took the first two sets.

Kayla James provided great spiking support and blocking as she and national netballer Rhea Bryant stunned the Rockets.

Double crowned Caribbean MVP Shari Matthews fought to keep the Rockets aloft, but whenever she rotated to the back court her team struggled to find a potent warhead.
