Leacock takes Open lead

THERECOULD BE A NEW Massy United Insurance Barbados Open Golf champion at the end of the final  18 holes at Royal Westmoreland today.

Veteran Barbados player Carlsen Leacock jumped ahead of the contenders with an emphatic even-par  72 yesterday that pushed him five shots clear  of the field.

On a day when players were forced to fight  off their rivals and intermittent showers, Leacock moved his  two-day gross to 150 at the expense of fellow national players, Elvis Medford and defending champion  Julian Jordan, who are six strokes behind.

The leader has been driving and putting well and has his eye on the championship. “My aim is to win the tournament. I will continue to play my game and hopefully I can go all the way,” said the attacking Leacock.
