Teenage boy, police constable injured in shooting incidents

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING the shooting of a female police constable and a 14-year-old boy in separate incidents last night.

Public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch said the boy was shot in his left calf while at his St Michael residence.

The wound appeared to be self-inflicted and a firearm was recovered by officers at the scene.

Welch said the boy was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and discharged.

The constable, who received a gunshot injury to her left leg while at her home, was also taken to the QEH where she was treated and discharged.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old man who was shot at Fitts Village, St James last night is said to be in stable condition after undergoing surgery.

Police say he received a gunshot injury to his back.
