Update: Three injured seriously at Bagatelle

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING a serious accident which occurred around noon today on Highway 2A, in the area of Bagatelle, St Thomas.

It involved a motorcar driven by Mark Cox, 43, of Silver Hill, Christ Church and a truck driven by Andre Worrell, 33, of Black Rock, St Michael.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the car and his passengers 34-year-old Joanne Odle and nine-year-old Joel Odle of Silver Hill, Christ Church received serious injuries.  They were trapped in the badly damaged vehicle, and were extricated by members of the Barbados Fire Service.

They were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulances where they are presently undergoing medical care.

Police thanked the members of the public who were in close proximity of this accident for their efforts in assisting the injured.

Police say information indicated a member of the public also rendered the damaged car safe when sparks emanated from the engine. (PR/NB)
