School meals worker puzzled over switch

A GOVERNMENT WORKER is questioning why after so many years in one job he has suddenly been returned to a lower-paying position.

Leslie Moaze, who has been working with the School Meals Department at Lancaster, St James, for more than a decade as a driver, said he received an unexpected letter on Monday telling him he was returning to his substantive post as a general worker.

Moaze said his family, including his unemployed girlfriend, were very upset and believed there was some political motivation behind the action.

His workmates who were rallying around him yesterday described the situation as “quite unfair”.
