As of 2014, an estimated 4 070 people in Barbados were suffering from dementia, and 54 per cent of the elderly people in the Geriatric Hospital are suffering from dementia.

Blackett noted the care and cost of dementia was an “incredible burden” on Government, society and family. (YB)
