Health is an issue that affects us all. For the past several years, Barbadians have been complaining about the length of time spent seeking medical attention at the island’s public health care facilities. SUNDAY SUN teams visited a polyclinic in the north and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital to get a first hand account of experience.
FROM SOME DISTANCE away they could be seen seated with their backs turned.Â
Closer observation of the general waiting area revealed about 40 heads tilted towards their watches as they kept track of the time or checked the happenings in nearby departments.
While they waited and watched in anticipation, a second batch came through the door – a flood of patients on foot and in wheelchairs and leaning on canes.
It was now clinic day like any other. (RG)
