Don’t compare the rum shop to church

“No Way! A Rum shop cannot be just as essential as a church.”

I take serious issue with the statement in the SUNDAY SUN of August 23, to the effect that the “rum shop is just as essential as church”.

I object strongly to such a statement of non-fact.

My understanding is and I firmly believe that unrepentant and unbelieving sinners would be eternally punished after death as The Bible teaches, whereas believers will be eternally rewarded. Hence, the rum shop where you’ll find unrepentant and unbelieving sinners, and the church where you will find believers cannot be just as essential one to the other. No Way!

I would humbly like to warn all Barbadians, and all those who read this newspaper, that Hebrews 9:27 says succinctly: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement.” So take note.

If I am right and I know assuredly that The Bible teaches that I am, and some people disbelieve The Bible and believe and teach that after death there is nothing to worry about and they are right, I have nothing to worry about and they have nothing to worry about. But if I am right and they are wrong they have to face a judgement that they didn’t believe in. It’s that serious.

A word to the wise is enough.
