PM Stuart to address United Nations meetings

PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart will deliver addresses at two United Nations (UN) meetings in New York over the next two weeks.

He will speak at the Post 2015 Development Summit on Friday and the United Nations General Debate of the General Assembly on October 2.

At the Post 2015 Development Summit, UN member countries will adopt a comprehensive sustainable development agenda set out in the outcome document entitled: Transforming Our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.  The agenda involves 17 sustainable development goals and 167 targets.

While at the UN, Prime Minister Stuart will participate in an Interactive Dialogue on Climate Change, as well as working lunches on SIDS and the impact of climate change. As chairman of CARICOM, he is expected to chair a series of meetings and will also have bilateral meetings with important partners.

Stuart left Barbados last Friday. While he is away, Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, is acting Prime Minister. (BGIS)
