THE SECOND round of the Barbados Hockey Federation’s Hockey 7s League is in full swing and it is now anyone’s guess who will reach the semi-finals in both the men’s Super and National Leagues.

In the Super League on Saturday night, Avengers edged YMCA 5-4 while Massy United Insurance Empire Club trounced Eastern Stars 7-3.

Avengers raced to a 3-0 lead in just the opening eight minutes, courtesy of strikes from forwards Che Roach (3rd minute) and Shaile Babb (5th and 8th minutes).

But the YMCA got their act together when Mario Moore scored in the 17th minute and Timothy Parris cut the lead to just one, 11 minutes later. Parity was then restored when former national player Rohan “Teno” Thomas scored from a penalty corner when he beat stand-in goalkeeper Khodi Gibson low and to his right in the 30th minute.
