Jobs key feature of youth summit

HIGH unemployment and global economic sluggishness are creating a new energy among young entrepreneurs in the Caribbean.

And Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley is advising them to see the Caribbean as a market for exploration.

Lashley, speaking at the Courtyard By Marriott Hotel at Hastings in a welcoming ceremony at a Caribbean Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (C-YES) yesterday, said entrepreneurship was an effective developmental tool but for it to be impactful and sustainable a regional approach should be taken.

“Regionalism is not an easy task but I know we are already starting to think as a region and taking concrete steps to actualise our thoughts,” he said.
