Dottin’s say

THE MAN in the midst of the controversial police promotions saga, Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin, finally took to the stand yesterday to give his side in the lawsuit brought by 14 officers.

Dottin testified in Supreme Court No. 2 that it was “uncanny” how rumours around the Police Force regarding promotions within the organisation, “accorded” with the actual appointments.

“That caused consternation,” he told the court as the civil case brought by the officers, who are seeking damages for non-promotion back in 2012, continued before Justice Margaret Reifer.

Dottin said he was still a member of the Police Force and its commissioner, despite being sent on administrative leave on the recommendation of the Police Service Commission (PSC) to the Governor General in June 2013.
