Trident to the rescue again

MINUTES ATFTER the HMBS Trident docked at the Bridgetown Port yesterday following the third trip to storm-stricken Dominica, the crew had to be redeployed 59 nautical miles to rescue a vessel.

Colonel Alvin Quintyne said that the crew was exhausted but the scenario truly reflected dedication.

“That is what commitment is all about. They would be tired . . . .It is not an eight-to-four job. It is whenever and wherever duty calls,” Quintyne said.

He added that he spoke to the crew that consisted of members of the Barbados Defence Force, the Coast Guard and the Royal Barbados Police about what he expected of them in Dominica and he was not disappointed.
