TERMINATION WITHOUT CONSULTATION. That’s what former general secretary of the National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Dennis Clarke, is contending occurred when more than 200 National Conservation Commission (NCC) staffers were given their walking papers last year.
The now retired Clarke made the assertion yesterday while providing evidence on a second day to the Employment Rights Tribunal at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
The tribunal is hearing evidence regarding 96 NCC workers who have filed a class action suit since their retrenchment last April.
“The NUPW had no negotiations with the NCC or their agents about retrenchments prior to April (2014),” Clarke said in response to questions from the claimants’ attorney Patterson Cheltenham QC.Please read the full story in today’s Saturday Sun, or in the eNATION edition.
