Joe on King’s Highway

JOSEPH NATHANIEL “JOE” NILES is now walking on the King’s Highway.

The revered gospel singer passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 19 and at his national appreciation service yesterday at the Wildey Gymnasium entitled Just A Rose Will Do, there were tributes in word and song with a sense of both joy and loss for a life well lived.

Hours before the official 4 p.m. start, Barbadians were gathering at the gym, listening to impromptu tributes and samples of Niles’ music played on the big screens.

People clapped, sang and even got to their feet when Niles performed on the screens.
