Jhagroo heartened by breast cancer awareness

Pioneer of the Barbados Breast Screening Programme Dr Shirley Jhagroo is today tickled pink that more and more women are coming forward to have their breasts checked.

With increasing numbers of new positive cases of breast cancer being diagnosed every year, Jhagroo believes strongly that this increase is due to the stepped up the benefits of awareness and message of early detection.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this champion for breast cancer awareness said she was also heartened that many women coming forward were doing so without any signs or symptoms, or discomfort associated with the disease.

“More people are coming to be checked and they have no symptoms.”
