GOVERNMENT is facing heat from members of the Rastafari community over its decision not to follow Jamaica and decriminalise the use of small amounts of marijuana.

On Tuesday, three members of the Nyabinghi tribe took their case directly to Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite.

At a public forum on crime at the Princess Margaret Secondary School, Ras Martin said it was time that Government paid serious attention to what was happening in the region.

He cited the decision by the Jamaica government to amend the Dangerous Drugs Act earlier this year, making possession of two ounces or less of marijuana a non-arrestable, ticketable offence that attracts no criminal record.
