Elcock admits pressure to do well

RUSSELL ELCOCK will be saddled with the weight of a nation.

Not that he doesn’t know it.

Barbados’ perennial time trial champ admits he feels the pressure to replicate that success at the regional level heading into the start of the Caribbean Cycling Championships with today’s time trial on the Mile-And-A-Quarter circuit.

“Yeah, I’m a little nervous because I am at home so everyone is looking for me to do well,” acknowledged the four-time time trial king.

“And there is a lot of pressure because I own the course record and know the course better than anyone else, but that pressure is also motivation for me to do better.”
