DEMOLITION WORK on a number of commercial buildings at Lower Bay Street, The City, has begun.
Stuart Layne, chief executive officer of the Barbados Tourism Investment Inc., would only say that the land was being cleared and that, subject to all necessary approvals, work would proceed.
Developer Mark Maloney said there were no details available at this time since contracts and agreements had not yet been completed.
It is expected that a brand name hotel will be built at the location that housed the former Harbour Police Complex before it was turned into a tourism-related facility. The property next door, which has been closed for a number of years, and was once the location for DETCO Motors, was also being torn down.
This Bay Street property boasts one of the island’s finest beaches.
