Demand for Cave

PRIVATE SECTOR interests are lining up to take over management of Harrison’s Cave in the hope of improving the fortunes of Barbados’ top tourist attraction.

But Acting Minister of Tourism Senator Irene Sandiford-Garner told  the Weekend Nation yesterday that while it was Government’s plan to accommodate some sort of partnership in the operation of the cave, no decision would be made until they were satisfied there was a wide cross section of proposals and that the best interests of the state and employees of Caves of Barbados would be served.

“The Ministry of Tourism still has to evaluate the Government’s asset and ensure that any decision made is in the best interest of the Government and the employees of the cave,” Sandiford-Garner said.

“There will be nothing done until we can satisfy those requirements.”
