A FIFTY-YEAR-OLD mother of two is frustrated by the state of disrepair of her home and wants the Rural Development Commission to fix it.
Joycelyn Lowe-Small of Greggfarm, St Andrew, told WEEKEND NATION that her house had been damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2006 and the commission had pulled down the wreckage in order to rebuild her home.
She said that she and her husband were required to sign a ten-year contract specifying that only after that time would the house belong to them and they could not make any major changes. Lowe-Small said her three-bedroom home deteriorated to a two-bedroom house.
“It was a three-bedroom house. The hurricane licked off the back of it . . . and it licked off the top, so the part there keep on [peeling] and it dropping off and they say, ‘Well, look, we will come and fix it’,” she said.
