COLOMBO – An all-too-familiar batting collapse transformed growing West Indian optimism into yet another slide to defeat as Sri Lanka pounced to secure a 2-0 series sweep with a 72-run victory in the second Test at the P Sara Oval yesterday.

The West Indies, resuming on 20-1 in pursuit of 244, were eventually bowled out for 171 midway through the second session.

Left-hander Darren Bravo, mixing flair with focus, top-scored with 61, while Shai Hope was busy in compiling 35.

On a wearing fifth day pitch, the spinners predictably led Sri Lanka. Veteran Rangana Herath claimed four for 56 to take his tally across the two Tests to 15 at 16.13 – enough to earn the Man Of The Series award.
