AS THE TWO-DAY meeting of the 8th meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes gets underway at the Hilton Barbados hotel, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart has accused certain members of the OECD of constantly placing some countries like Barbados on the defensive.
He said Barbados is “particularly concerned” that even as the Forum was considering its third mandate, “there were still some member countries . . . that create blacklists of other countries without regard to the implications such actions could have”.
The prime minister exhorted the forum to “reflect deeply” on its objectives and achievements and to remember that its decisions had far reaching implications. (HLE)
