FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS with aspirations to become a mixologist, to becoming one of the managers of the popular Scrawl Up events, the oyster that held Edward Forde’s long-time dream opened to the public on October 14 at Carlisle House.

The Black Pearl Lounge, with its chic black and white decor, atmospheric lighting and stocked bar, was packed with patrons who came by special invitation to see Forde’s dream in all its splendour.

Forde, the proprietor of the lounge, stemming from his childhood aspiration, said he always found the bar setting as the type of environment where he could be himself.

“Talking to people, getting to know people, getting to know different cultures . . . when I look at this lounge setting, that fits it well. This is more me, because it’s more personal,” he said.

Sticking to his preference of having ideal spots in central Bridgetown, Forde added that the lounge’s presence added some much needed variety and life to the area. (SM)
