Keeping City bright

SOME OF THE LIGHTS which were switched on in The City on Sunday will remain on after the month-long celebrations for Independence.

Addressing patrons at the Sagicor Life Lighting Ceremony in Independence Square, chief operations officer at Sagicor, Edward Clarke, said the additional lighting in places like Wharf Road was part of the mandate of the Revitalisation Of Bridgetown Initiative.

“With each new addition, we get another step closer to a revitalised central business district. In order for the public and private sector to stay and in some cases return to Bridgetown, we need to ensure the necessary improvements like these are made on a continuous basis,” he said, adding they wanted to see all the identified streets affixed with new lights.

The message to would-be sponsors was that there was still time to get on board with the project. (YB)
