CRIME STOPPERS BARBADOS has distanced itself from messages being circulated via social media which claim to have been sanctioned by that organisation.
Executive director Devrol Dupigny said the false messages are especially being spread via WhatsApp.
“The board of Crime Stoppers Barbados categorically denies any association with such messages and asks that all persons who have received these messages to disregard them.
“Further, the board of Crime Stoppers Barbados strongly advises the person or persons who are sending these messages out to desist from doing so, immediately,” he said in a statement.
Dupigny said official tips from Crime Stoppers can be obtained daily on the Crime Stoppers Barbados Facebook page.
He reminded the public that anyone with information on any crime can provide reports anonymously by calling 1 800 8477 or online at www.crimestoppersbarbados.com. (PR/NB)
