School celebrates

THIS INDEPENDENCE, the students of the St Philip Primary School will learn how to be guardians of their heritage.

The school started their month of activities yesterday with a blessing of the nation service in the school hall. Reverend Trevor O’Neale, Rector of the St Philip Parish Church prayed for the island as it celebrates 49 years.

The school’s theme is Guardians of Our Heritage and Media Resource Officer with the Ministry of Education Michelle Griffith, said: “Through such activities you students are able to see the significant achievements of this beautiful country and you also get the opportunity to meet some of the persons who have contributed to Barbados.”

The students were treated to music by the Barbados Community College band. The School choir also performed several songs. (LK)
