BARBADOS’ SQUASH PLAYERS are gearing up for two of the sport’s most prestigious junior tournaments.

Yesterday, the Barbados Squash Association (BSA) announced the teams to Canadian Junior Open and US Junior Open Championships.

Junior national coach Rhett Cumberbatch will accompany a team of 11 players to compete at the Canadian Junior Open at The Club at White Oaks in Niagara on December 12 and 13 and six players will be competing at the US Junior Open at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut from December 19 to 22.

BSA president Monty Cumberbatch said it was the second time the team was attending the championships and since they have been training very hard he expected them to surpass their last performance.

Team: Alex Stewart, Darien Benn, Sumairaa Suleman, Kemar Lorde, Chelsi Samuels, Jodi Smith, Jada Smith, Meagan Best, Khamal Cumberbatch and Rhett Cumberbatch (coach). (RG)
