Maynard was ‘humble, polite’

HE NEVER TURNED HIS BACK on either the Pinelands or basketball community, and they more than showed their gratitude in return.

They came out in their thousands to show their last respects for Ryan “Ryan Sam” Maynard as family, friends, the Pine community, the basketball fraternity and old Harris Paints workmates all paid tribute to a man continually remembered as humble, polite and respectful.

St Michael South East MP Santia Bradshaw and executive members of the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association were among those who packed both the inside and outside of the Coral Ridge Chapel for a funeral service conducted by Rev. Mark White.

Portrayed as a strong family man that loved both his children and wife, Maynard, 40, was mostly remembered for his quiet elegance and a polite humbleness during a moving eulogy delivered by former colleague and family friend Brenda Foster.
