ANGLICAN CLERIC Reverend John Rogers has condemned vote-buying in general elections, describing it as “bread and circuses”.
In a hard-hitting message to Lions Club members on Saturday night, the rector of St George Parish Church called for a stop to the corrupt practice, one of several he said was plaguing the region.
And he warned that the price was quickly becoming too high.
“The problem stretches to the point where many of our citizens who are on the poverty line become the pawns in a political game, a political game in which they only become relevant every five years or so, while a small number of persons with the capital more or less determine who the Government will be.” (WILLCOMM)
