‘Too many guns’

MURDER WITH A GUN should not be a bailable offence.

This is the strong view of Member of Parliament for St Philip North Michael Lashley, who also suggests a special magistrate should be appointed to expedite cases of gun-related crimes.

Speaking to the SATURDAY SUN in the aftermath of the gunning down of two men during the popular St Philip Carnival on Independence Day, Lashley said a strong message must be sent to criminal elements “who believe they can walk around brandishing firearms” and shooting at will.

“Murder before was never in any of the laws of Barbados as a bailable offence,” Lashley pointed out.
