A CORPORATE EXECUTIVE who attended Princess Margaret School has complained that there is still a stigma attached to people who attend newer secondary schools, no matter how well they perform.
Keron Cox, a tax expert of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), who holds a Master’s degree in investment and wealth management, admitted that some people were surprised that students from newer secondary schools excel academically.
Speaking at the school’s speech day yesterday, Cox used himself as an example, saying that throughout his studies at both the Barbados Community College and the University of the West Indies, people expected him to be the ordinary student because of the school he attended. However, because of his drive and knowledge he said some people were “totally amazed”.
