THE SALVATION ARMY is appealing for support for its new after-school programme, even as it continues to struggle to reach its projected Christmas collection target.

Since last Thursday, cumulatively the church’s kettle and letter appeal drives have raised a further $40 307.09, bringing the tally to $261 440.30. This however is still far short of the $800 000 goal.

“We are grateful for what we receive [but] the funding is never enough because there is so much to do,” Divisional Commander Major Sinous Theodore told the MIDWEEK NATION yesterday during a special Christmas luncheon at the Army’s Hostel and Feeding Centre on Reed Street, The City.

He said some of the funds would be used to help finance the after-school programme set to start next month.
