WITH two days to go before Christmas, dismayed workers at the National Housing Corporation (NHC) are hoping that Santa will deliver gifts to them today in the form of pay packets.
Yesterday, while other public officers were smiling all the way to the bank, having been paid for December, workers at the Country Road, St Michael agency were fuming after they discovered that their salaries were not on their accounts.
They were summoned to a meeting yesterday evening at which sources who attended said general manager Lanette Napoleon-Young apologised for the delay and explained that the NHC was experiencing financial difficulties.
However, she assured that management was working feverishly to ensure workers receive their pay today.
