THE FIRST DAY of 2016 almost became the last day for Kyle Bishop who fell into a manhole near the Carlisle Carpark.

Bishop, who went to watch the fireworks and ring in the New Year with friends, said he was walking and then he started falling.

“I just walk and come into the car park to see the fireworks; the next minute I find myself down in a hole and cut up all my foot,” the 49-year-old told SATURDAY SUN.

Bishop said he was taken totally by surprise and noted there was no caution tape to signal the danger around the hole.
