GOVERNOR GENERAL Sir Elliott Belgrave and his family joined staff and guests of Radisson Aquatica Resort for New Year’s Eve celebrations at the South Coast hotel.

According to general manager of the resort, Gerry Lewis, Sir Elliott was well received by all. “The Governor General was very down to earth. He chatted with both guests of the hotel as well as the staff. Other guests, who heard he was present, came around to catch a glimpse of him and also to shake his hand. He was very gracious to all who wanted to meet him, and his family was very accommodating,” he said.

According to the hotel manager, Sir Elliott dined with guests who were at the Aquatic Gap hotel to enjoy the New Year’s Eve dinner party

“He sat in the middle of the dining hall with all the other guests. And although he did not stay to ring in the New Year’s, we all appreciated him gracing us with his presence,” said Lewis.

Guests rang in 2016 to the traditional Auld Lyne Sang chorus. And although the hotel initially planned to have a fireworks display, the manager said they decided against it as there were many other fireworks displays along the South Coast that could be viewed from the beach.

Looking forward to 2016, Lewis said he expected an even better performance from the hotel than in 2015.

“This year we would be looking to build on what we did last year which was an extremely successful year. We are open to the public as they help us along to achieve our success. We are also expecting to do a bigger party for New Year’s Eve in terms of format and the style of dinner and in true Radisson fashion,” he concluded.
