Dumpers get deadline to clean up molasses

THOSE WHO have been dumping the decades’ old molasses in various parts of the island have less than two weeks to clean up their acts.

This comes as the Ministry of Health flexes its legislative muscle in a response to the acts which have prompted a public outcry.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Kenneth George said the dumpers were “breaking all the laws of Barbados”.

“The Ministry of Health will be using its legislation which is the Health Services (Nuisances) Regulations to make sure that this activity stops,” he said.

The dumpers have also been given a maximum of ten days by which to cease their actions “in the first instance”.
